Part Four - THE ROOTS OF ALL EVIL

On June 21, 1989 Carmine leads a team of hit men to kidnap and murder Little Vic before he arrives home from dinner and bury his body in a hole they previously dug in Brooklyn.  Fate and Little Vic’s street honed survival skills step in when Vic spots the hit team and avoids assassination by Sessa’s men.  But the trailing echo of that assassin’s bullet reverberates throughout the Families and a seminal division occurs.  Choices must be made. Sides must be chosen.  Most of the family's men pledge themselves to Little Vic - hence the Orena Faction - and the remainder with Persico - The Persico Faction. 

After six months of peace but numerous close calls of violence between Orena Faction General Wild Bill and Presico Faction General, Greg Scarpa, the war rams home.  The latter part of this segment of the documentary will go into the dark details of the numerous hits and near hits, culminating with Scarpa getting his eye shot out.  Justice may be blind but Scarpa survives.   As the barrage of arrests and indictments start to tally up, they evidence builds toward the eventual the arrest and conviction of Little Vic.

As Wild Bill’s trial is about to begin the revelation that Gregory Scarpa Sr. was a thirty year confidential informant for the FBI comes to light.  Scarpa was involved, engaged and perpetrated the most acts of violence during the escalating war.   With the FBI’s sanction Scarpa was left on the street with a literal license to kill and was helped by his handler to find victims and kill them.  Those targeted being Little Vic and his most loyal men.

The final denoument of the intense saga ends with the acquittals of Wild Bill and the Orena Brothers.  Through exclusive footage and transcripts we will focus on Little Vic’s hearing when DeVecchio pleads the Fifth and is granted immunity turning from loyal soldier into a hostile witness and ultimately what leads to the indictment of Delvechio.   The final recap will cover where all the key players in the drama stand today coming full circle to Wild Bill’s murder by the hands of Alley Boy Persico.  Victor “Little Vic” Orena today is still serving life.
